  2. Background • First aerospace activity in Sonora started 24 years ago, manufacturing cables and harnesses for companies like Boeing: Thermax • In 1998 Smith West in Guaymas and ITT Cannon in Nogales started their manufacturing activities and triggered the development of the industry in Sonora.

  3. Sonora’s Aerospace Industry Today Sonora is home to the most important and integrated machining cluster in Mexico. • Main clusters located in: • Guaymas - Empalme • Nogales • Main operations include: • Precision machining • Electronics manufacturing & assembly • Investment casting

  4. Sonora’s Aerospace Industry Today • Recent development in Manufacturing Activities: • Composite components for aircraft Interiors: DAHER Aerospace. BE Aerospace will start 2009. • Aircraft structural composite component manufacturing starting soon. Sonora currently has 34 companies with Aerospace manufacturing capabilities:
