  1. Laurie Collins’ Thesis: “All empires either decline or fall.” All Kingdoms, countries, empires have periods: • When they grow. • When they are powerful or rich. • When they lose their political and economic power.

  2. Some are able to efficiently govern the land they have seized control of and are around for a long time and some are not able to govern the land that their military is able to conquer.

  3.   4. The MongolsGenghis Khan and SonsGenghis and his grandson Kublai Genghis was sent to the world, “To conquer the whole earth.”

  5. Genghis united the tribes of Mongoliaby 1206.He took northern China and then went eastward, conquering Russia , the city of Baghdad and almost taking Europe in a period of 60 years!

  6. His grandson Kublai completed the task by talking down the Sung Dynasty in 1279.

  9. He family's tribe was allied with the Kereit tribe.

  10. After his father’s death, the family lived in poverty. They basically lived like hunter-gatherers on the Steppes. • The region where Temujinn lived.

  12. The atmosphere he grew up in was filled with: • Thievery • Raids from other tribes • Acts of revenge • Tribal Warfare

  13. He grew up realizing that the only way to survive was to make and rely on allies.He married his wife to form an alliance with another tribe.

  16. Genghis united the tribes of Mongolia and taught them to fight as an organized unit.

  17. Mongolians know refer to him as the father of Mongolia.
