  3. Management The process of designing and maintaining an environment in which people and resources are utilized efficiently and effectively to accomplish organizational goals. Managers are the people responsible for the work of others.

  4. Efficiency vs. Effectiveness EffectiveAdequate to accomplish a purpose; producing the intended or expected result. EfficientPerforming or functioning in the best possible manner with the least waste of time and effort. Being effective is about doing the right things, while being efficient is about doing the things in the right manner.

  11. Argyris takes this one step further Argyris theorizes that if managers treat their employees in a positive manner—as responsible adults—their employees will be more productive. His research found that mature/adult workers want additional responsibilities, a variety of tasks, and the ability to participate in decisions. If not, the result will be employee absenteeism, apathy, and even alienation.
