Abused No More: Safeguarding Youth and Empowering Professionals

This programme, funded by Erasmus+, aims to address and prevent abuse among young people by providing training and resources for professionals. Led by Dr. Natalia Paszkiewicz, the programme focuses on promoting a safer and fairer society through evidence-based solutions and user-led research. The programme includes face-to-face and online training, the development of a network of organizations, and the publication of a peer-reviewed book with policy recommendations. The programme is part of the ongoing work of IARS, an international think-tank specializing in criminal justice, restorative justice, human rights, and inclusion.

Partners’ responsibilities • Phase 1 Report, led by IARS concluding the research and theoretical development of the project • Face-to-face training design and delivery, led by SIB piloting the tools created by the project and increasing the knowledge and capacity of young people and key workers in the participating countries • Online training and design, led by IARS increasing the knowledge and capacity of young people and key workers across the EU • Project website and Data base, led by AnS creating a network of relevant organisations, connecting them, increasing their knowledge around the project area and disseminating the results of the project • Final project report in the form of a peer review edited book with policy recommendations, tools and best practices, led by IARS • Closing conference in UK

Workstream 1 • Theoretical Development, including the following results (Months 1-6): • Literature review of key concepts, surveys where appropriate, comparative analyses, evidence gathering and studies of real life cases • Production of Phase 1 report, construction of the project's theoretical framework and identification of best practices within the UK including the most suitable material for the reference documents and learning packages • Recruit young people to be directly involved in the project; deliver internships and volunteering opportunities locally • Set up a thorough Risk Register which will be updated during the face to face Project Meetings of all partners (every 9 months) as well as the monthly catch ups between the Project Coordinator and the partners' project leads. The Register will be divided into 4 areas: Project Delivery, Finance, Communications, Staff.

Workstream 2 • Implementation, including the following results (Months 7-30): • Recruitment and direct involvement of young people in the delivery and evaluation of the project through high quality volunteering opportunities and internships (at least 20 young people) • Design of a face-to-face training, educational and skills development course for the legal literacy of youth organisations, young people and relevant stakeholders in the area of gender-based abuse of young marginalised people • Design an e-learning course using state of the art technology and provide access to it to at least 2000 users across Europe. Provide accreditation and self-assessment. • Delivery of face-to-face training (4 sessions) to the participating organisations (including staff, young people) • Pilot the face-to-face training within each participating country with young people and relevant institutions (5 pilots in UK) • Publication of reference documents in the project area

Workstream 3 • Dissemination, including the following results (Months 1-36): • Set up a project website & update monthly • Set up and facilitate a pan-European network (database) of relevant stakeholders and young people • Publication of a book integrating the findings and all results from the project and making it available online for wider dissemination • Hold final international conference in London to launch the book and disseminate widely • Regular e-newsletters disseminating news from the project to at least 5000 contacts in Europe

Workstream 4 • Evaluation (Months 12, 24 and 36): • Ongoing evaluation of the project's impact through annual surveys of users and relevant stakeholders as well as assessment of the project's individual outputs • Peer review of publication through IARS Editorial Board • Set up a Steering Group consisting of young people, users, experts and partners • Integrate learning into the book • Ensure sustainability

Evaluation and Monitoring IARS will use the following methodologies to measure and track the project outcomes: • IARS’ Youth Advisory Board (YAB) • The REACH evaluation framework • Quantitative Surveys at the end of every annual cycle and the project • The standing IARS independent and international Academic Board

  10. Accreditation • All IARS' courses are certified with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) status (minimum 20 CPD learning points – Intermediate level). CPD accreditation is also transferable to other countries. • Where possible we will integrate the work of the young people (internships) into the work-based IARS Certificate in Youth Policy (45 academic credits). • Furthermore, we will provide YouthPass to young people (IARS is already registered for YouthPass), as well as include them in the Annual IARS Awards designed specifically for young people and those servicing them.
