  1. THE CASE OF THE STOLEN DEREK JETER CARD By: Diane D.

  2. It was a crystal clear night and Joseph (he’s a detective) was throwing a party while his parents were at Olive Garden celebrating their anniversary.

  3. Joey’s older brother Robert said that Joey couldn’t have a party while his parents were gone, but Joey didn’t listen because he was being stubborn. Sometimes his stubbornness got him in trouble. Even though Robert’s girlfriend Jill was there, Robert still wouldn’t come down to the living room, and have some fun.

  4. When the party was over, Robert finally came down to the living room where there were wrappers, soda cans, and chip bags all over the floor.

  5. Robert ran out the door to say goodnight to Jill. After he said goodnight, he went back inside, looked out the door and watched her go. Jill ran to her house. Then Joey went outside to make sure that everything was okay.

  6. He found a glove lying by the mailbox; he picked it up and took it inside.

  7. At 11:00 p.m., they started to clean up the house. “This will take hours,” said Joey. “We don’t have hours.” replied Robert. “We only have 1 hour to clean up this mess!!!

  8. After they finished cleaning, the boys went up to their room. They found that Joey’s Derek Jeter card was missing!

  9. The next day, Joey went out to check the mail. Inside the mailbox, he found a note by an anonymous person. Come to the park if you want your card back. Translation: Come to the park if you want your card back.

  10. That afternoon, Joey went to meet the anonymous person to get his card back. The anonymous person never showed up. “They played a trick on me,” said Joey.

  11. A little later, Joey interviewed some people to find out if they knew anything about his missing card. Everyone said they knew nothing, but one person in the back of the kitchen didn’t say anything at all.

  12. Joey did not recognize the person in the back. Before he could question him he had disappeared.

  13. Feeling hopeless, Joey decided to go to his room and never come out. The card was worth more than three months allowance, he felt like he could never replace it.

  14. “Joey!” his mom called. “It’s time for dinner!” “Not hungry Mom!” replied Joey. “ Then that means more for me!”said Robert. “Don’t care Bobby.” replied Joey. “Don’t call me Bobby!”said Robert.

  15. Still want your card back? Meet me at school by the abandoned lockers. The next morning Joey woke up and there was a note on his nightstand and read it.

  16. The next morning Joey jumped on his skateboard and rode to school.

  17. As soon as Joey got to school he went right downstairs to the abandoned lockers. When he got to the bottom of the stairway he saw something move out of the corner of his eye. After the someone or something had left, Joey went to go see what it was. Then he saw something under his foot. “I found it!!!!” cried Joey. “I found my card!!” cried Joey again. “Wait a minute,” thought Joey. “Stop!!” yelled Joey. “Who me????” asked a kid shaking nervously from behind the lockers.

  18. “Yes you!”exclaimed Joey. “Why did you steal my card?! asked Joey. “B-because I wanted to sell it on E-bay so I could make some extra cash to buy an IPod touch,” stammered the kid. “Well I hope you get sent to Juvy for that!” said Joey.

  19. Later that day the cops came and took the kid to Juvy for 3 months and when he eventually got out of Juvy he was grounded for a year.
