  10. Technical committee structure

  11. ISO’s Automotive, ITS and Communications-related Committees • ISO/TC22 – Road vehicles • ISO/TC204 – Intelligent transport systems • ISO/TC241 – Road traffic safety management systems

  12. ISO/TC22 – Road Vehicles Covers all questions of standardization concerning compatibility, interchangeability and safety, with particular reference to terminology and test procedures (including the characteristics of instrumentation) for evaluating the performance of the following types of road vehicles and their equipment as defined in the relevant items of Article 1 of the convention on Road Traffic, Vienna in 1968 concluded under the auspices of the United Nations: • mopeds (item m); • motorcycles (item n); • motor vehicles (item p); • trailers (item q); • semi-trailers (item r); • light trailers (item s); • combination vehicles (item t); • articulated vehicles (item u). Almost 900 published international standards and 275 projects under development

  13. TC22 Subcommittee Structure • SC31 Data communication • SC32 Electrical and electronic components and general systems aspects • SC33 Vehicle dynamics and chassis components • SC34 Propulsion, powertrain and powertrain fluids • SC35 Lighting and visibility • SC36 Safety and impact testing • SC37 Electrically propelled vehicles • SC38 Motorcycles and mopeds • SC39 Ergonomics • SC40 Specific aspects for light and heavy commercial vehicles, busses and trailers • SC41 Specific aspects for gaseous fuels

  14. TC22 SC31 Scope Data communication for vehicle applications. This includes: • Data buses and protocols (including dedicated sensor communication) • V2X communication (including V2G) • Diagnostics • Test protocols • Interfaces and gateways (including those for nomadic devices) • Data formats • Standardized data content

  15. TC22 SC31 Structure • JWG1: JWG with IEC/TC69 on Vehicle to grid communication interface (V2G CI) • WG2: Vehicle diagnostic protocols • WG3: In-vehicle networks • WG4: Network applications • WG5: Test equipment/Data eXchange formats • WG6: Extended Vehicle/Remote diagnostics • WG7: Electronic periodic technical inspection (ePTI) • WG8: Vehicle domain – Data collection system • WG9: Sensor data interface for automated driving functions • WG10: Extended vehicle time critical applications

  16. TC22 SC31 Key Projects • Data communication between sensors and data fusion unit for automated driving functions • In-vehicle Ethernet • FlexRay • Extended Vehicle (ExVe) methodology and web services • Diagnostic communications

  17. TC22 SC32 Scope Electrical and electronic (E/E) components and cross-sectional specifications for E/E systems and components. This includes: • Wiring harness (e.g cables, connectors, interconnections) • Dedicated connectors (e.g trailer connectors, OBD-connector) • Dedicated E/E components and parts (e.g. alternators, fuses, ignition equipment) • Electromagnetic compatibility • Environmental conditions • Functional safety

  18. TC22 SC32 Structure • WG1: Ignition equipment • WG2: Environmental conditions • WG3: Electromagnetic compatibility • WG4: Automotive electrical cables • WG5: Fuses and circuit breakers • WG6: On-board electrical connections • WG7: Functional characteristics of starting devices and electrical generators • WG8: Functional safety • WG9: Electrical connections between towing and towed vehicles • WG10: Optical components – Test methods and requirements • WG11: Cybersecurity

  19. TC22 SC32 Key Projects • ISO/SAE 21434 collaboration - Cybersecurity This document specifies requirements for cybersecurity risk management for road vehicles, their components and interfaces, throughout engineering (e.g. concept, design, development), production, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning. A framework is defined that includes requirements for cybersecurity process and a common language for communicating and managing cybersecurity risk among stakeholders. This document is applicable to road vehicles that include electrical and electronic (E/E) systems, their interfaces and their communications. This document does not prescribe specific technology or solutions related to cybersecurity.

  20. TC22 Liaisons • ITU • UNECE • SAE • ETSI • OICA • ASAM • ISO/TC204 • ISO/TC241 … and many others
