Summary of Gift-a-Deed App A mobile-digital platform to connect the Needs of those living in extreme poverty with Resources from those having excess.      Uniqueness The mobile-App allows via Crowd-sourcing to identify & tag Needs in the City, while allowing those with excess resources to easily connect & distribute directly to the needy. Using location based technology combining innovative designer icons on Maps, the App is easy & fun to use, whilst rewarding the users with points. Ambition Through effective social media sharing & partnerships with Corporate CSR goals, we aim  to run start in 2 pilot citiesaround the world (Hong Kong, Mumbai) , experience of which will be then used  to launch the initiative on a global scale.

  6. Poverty problem •  An estimated 767 million people World over (including 30% of India's population) livedbelow the international poverty line of $1.90 a day. Challenge of Food Wastage inMumbai “INDIANS waste as much food as the whole of United Kingdom consumes” “ Weddings, canteens, hotels, social and family functions, households spew out so much food…” “ According to the United Nations Development Programme, up to 40% of the food produced in India is wasted. About 21 million tonnes of wheat are wasted in India and 50% of all food across the world meets the same fate and never reaches the needy. Scale of the Challenge & Opportunity Food Wastage The food currently lost or wasted in Latin America could feed 300 million people The food currently wasted in Europe could feed 200 million people The food currently lost in Africa could feed 300 million people Even if just 1/4th of the food currently lost or wasted globally could be saved, it would be enough to feed 870 million hungry people in the world. How Gift–a–Deedaddresses these issues Cause Orientation Allows charitable giving of resources in a transparent way by biggest donor group i.e. ‘individuals’, for humanitarian causes of Food, Water, Clothing, Shelter & maybe Medicine in future. 2. Increases Transparency By removing any intermediary & allowing for direct Donation. 3. Collaboration Allows for collaboration between Charities & share resources by providing a common digital location based App platform.

  13. How Gift–a–Deed works? Through Crowd sourcing Needs are tagged on the App Using innovative icons on the Map, Donors/households can easily locate a need around their neighborhood Allowing Households to donate excess Food, Water, Clothes, Shelter

  15. Way forward 1. Get funding to launch the app as a Proof of concept as pilot project in 2-3 cities of Hong Kong, Mumbai, Delhi. 2. Launch to test the app in Hong Kong, Mumbai, Delhi Promote the App & collaborate with other Charities 3. Learn and adapt the app before launching in other Cities Digital marketing of the App 4. Get more funding to launch in other Cities 5. Work on 2nd Version of GAD to connect Retailers, restaurants,hotels with other registered Charities

  16. Milestones planned Sept 2018 (T+6 months): App modified & improved. I-phone version created. March 2019 (T+12 months): Charities signed up and active. App marketing underway. Sept 2019 (T +18 months): Create app newsfeed. Intensify marketing efforts. Allow a wider number of items to be donated including money. March 2020 (T +24 months): Create a list of other locations for Phase 2 for app rollout. Modify and improve app as required.
