MSD apertures • Assume new vacuum chamber possible in last 5 MSD (all MSDCs), with r=26.2mm (increase of 2mm wrt standard version). • Assume ±4mm orbit for circulating beam to be respected. • Derive apertures for circulating and extracted beams.
TCDS position • Place TCDS at 16.3 (±1.0) mm which corresponds to n1 = 6.5 for ±4mm orbit
MSDC aperture • Have n1 = 7.1 for ±4mm orbit at tightest point (and shielded to >2s for sweep case)
Extracted beam aperture • Centre beam in extracted gap for orbit of ±2mm (ie feedback OK) • Nominal kick 0.269mrad • Derive apertures as function of orbit for 15/15 and 14/15 kicker cases for 450GeV and 7TeV
Conclusion • Enlarged chamber in MSDCs allows: • nominal kick 0.269mrad for MKD • n1 >6.5 for ±4mm circulating beam orbit • ~5.7/23 sigma for extracted beam at 450 GeV/7 TeV respectively (15/15 MKD, 2mm orbit) • ~3/12 sigma for extracted beam at 450 GeV/7 TeV respectively (14/15 MKD, 2mm orbit)
