X ray to electronic data changes in the medical industry

Shift from X-ray images to Electronic data (MRI and CT) is becoming more common:

Save storage space

Easily searchable

Achieving efficiency

Overall cost saving of image management

Example: Japanese Medical Industry

Government had been supporting medical X-ray costs. However this support ended in Apr. ’08. Shifted to an electronic PACS system (Picture Archiving and Communication System). This shift to electronic data has been essential in overall savings and efficiency.
