  1. Irresistible Evangelism Evangelism is often viewed as an event but it is really a process. The different stages in the process are: Sowing, watering, tending and harvesting. Every person has a spiritual address. Physical needs Emotional needs Directional needs Spiritual needs

  2. How to Respond to these Needs • Physical– show practical love through kindness • Emotional – give a listening hear and show concern • Direction – help to deal with objections and concern by asking wondering questions • Spiritual – being able to present the gospel and lead people to Christ ( know the gospel)

  3. Active Kindness: This is demonstrating God’s love by offering to do humble acts of kindness in Christ’s name, with no strings attached. This is using the driver’s in golf terms. • Demonstrating God’s love: I love thee for a heart that’s kind – not for the knowledge in thy mind. W.H. Davies • People might remember the words you say for a few hours, but they are likely to remember your acts of generosity for months, years and in many cases for the rest of their lives.

  4. By offering to do: take the initiative and remember; some may even be too shock to accept your kindness in Jesus name, but they may long remember the offer in Christ name. • Humble acts of service: e.g. cleaning toilet, house, yard, buying small things etc. in Christ name with no strings attached. We will never be effective in the kingdom until we sign up for activities that bring no immediate, tangible or specific gain. Luke 6:35

  5. Not trying to get them to do things in return, or to come to your church, or even to believe in Jesus, though if they do we will rejoice. • Leave the Holy Spirit to work and he seldom works when strings are attached. • The more we serve the more our hearts are open to serve and the more we serve the more we become like Jesus • The more we start serving the more the congregation become friendlier and the more people will tell others to come and check us out.

  6. Why Active kindness works all times • Its simple method so everyone can be involved • It’s a heart to heart approach( much grace is needed) • Its an on-going approach • It makes evangelism friendly • It makes it immediate– aim, mark, fire or better fire, fire, fire.

  7. Suggested projects • Clean public rest room. • Car wash. • Give out cold bottle water. • Cut lawn help neighbour in need.

  8. Active Friendship • Give every man thine ear, but few thy voice. William Shakespeare • Therefore consider careful how you listen. Lk 8:18 • Practicing evangelism without listening is like playing golf blindfolded- any results you achieve are probably accidental • The skill of listening is very important at this stage. Basically the training help us learn how to be there for people who need us.

  9. Listening Open Doors • People are looking for unconditional love and will gladly accept it when they experience it. • When listening to pre-Christians be careful of listening sand traps. • Impatience: spiritual- attention- deficit– instead of listening carefully we try to formulate brilliant answers, multitasking, nonverbally hurrying the speaker. • Jumping to conclusions or causes- we think we know what is the bottom line and thus stop listening as we give answers.

  10. Patronizing- condescending attitude demeaning people’s intelligence by treating them as children. Remember only God alone is all-knowing. We need to listen to people with respect. • Defensiveness- its hard to listen when you’re afraid and suspicious, because you think you have to protect yourself. Defensiveness on our part only increases the same of the other partner.

  11. Codependency– whenever we try to persuade people by manipulating them- inducing fear, shame, or guilt- even to rescue them, our behaviour is codependent. Remember no matter how painful it is to watch people make choices we don’t like, it’s unhealthy to try to control them or allow their unhealthy to control us. • Listening with your eyes and seeing with your ears. Yes pay very close attention and you will see the hurts in people’s heart and soul.

  12. ACTIVE WONDERING • Why wonder? • Wondering questions are non threatening • Wondering questions remove all barriers because they communicate humility • Wondering questions allow people to discover truth for themselves • Wondering questions cause others to begin asking their own good questions • A good wondering question is intelligent and open, and it raises questions without being manipulative.

  13. CAUTION!!!!!Before you start asking wondering questions, take the time to listen so you can gain insight into the following areas: • Background • Tastes and opinions • Thoughts and feelings • Life’s directions • Questions not to ask: Are you saved? What do you think about Jesus? Rhetorical questions.

  14. ACTIVE SHARING • One of the most exciting spiritual adventures in life is helping another human being find God. • If you want to walk on water; you’ve got to get out of the boat. • This is helping people come into a relationship with Jesus. Its more than just getting someone to pray a prayer. Helping people understand that when they say I do, its start a lasting relationship with the greatest being in the universe.

  15. Not yet - Christians need to see, hear, taste, and touch convincing evidence that Jesus offers the kind of relationship they’ve been looking for. • PREPARING TO SHARE • People will relate quite differently to us depending on whether they perceive us as strangers, acquaintances, friend, or eternal brothers or sisters. • The opportunity to be able to share depends on how safe people feel to open up to us.

  16. PERFECT STRANGERS • Strangers have to prove themselves trustworthy by being kind and considerate and by showing respect to other people’s boundaries. • With strangers the important thing is to keep your sharing brief, simple and non-threatening. Make it clear you are not trying to get them to do agree to anything.

  17. GREAT AQUAINTANCES • This is where you use listening and questions to build real friendship. Genuine loving turns acquaintances into real friends and helps them fall in love with Jesus.

  18. FRIENDS AND FAMILY • Sharing Jesus with those closest to you is often surprisingly tough. Its hard to overcome the challenges of familiarity. We can’t get away with pretending. The most powerful way to share the gospel with them is through lots of demonstrations of godly living. • 1 Peter 2:12 tells us loving actions are more effective than heated arguments.

  19. ETERNAL FRIENDS AND FAMILY • When friends and family commit to a relationship with Jesus it open up for a life time of discipleship. Getting them serious follower of Jesus so they can start winning souls to God.
