  • The difference in Peak-to-Average Ratio (PAR) between QPSK and OQPSK is ~0.5 dB at the PA input.

  • OQPSK requires 2.7 dB back-off from P_1dB
  • PABO calculated for identical output power

Conclusions
  • PAR reduction of OQPSK modulation is less than 0.5 dB over QPSK modulation.
  • PA back-off is reduced by 0.5 dB for OQPSK.
  • This slight reduction eliminates CAZAC properties of the preamble: gain slight reduction in complexity of RF design at the expense of incurring large increase in complexity of BB/algorithm design.
  • QPSK should be used instead of OQPSK for the preamble, header, and 22 Mbit/s data mode.
