  7. Choking is also called foreign body airway obstruction Common causes of choking are large pieces of food, alcohol, dentures, and other foreign objects. The Signs are: Unable to speak, breath or cough forcefully. Universal choking sign, where someone reaches for their neck.

  13. Steps for Adult CPR Survey the scene Check for a response (Tap and ask Are you okay?) Tell someone to call 911 and get an AED Check for Breathing (look, listen, feel) Locate hand position and do 30 chest compressions (less than 23 seconds) Open the airway and give 2 breaths.

  15. AEDAutomated External Defibrillator Turn on the machine Attach the pads to the body (must be skin) One on upper right chest, and the other below the left armpit. Follow the directions from the machine The AED will check for heart rhythm Push the shock button is the AED tells you to Stand clear of the machine Never detach the pads from the body
  16. The Good Samaritan Law You will not be sued if you break a rib or if the person does not get revived. The Good Samaritan Law protects bystander rescuers from liability while performing CPR.
