  4. There are six million, five hundred ten thousand, two hundred and ten children in the state of Texas. 6,510,210

  5. Ten percent of the children in Texas are confirmed victims of abuse or neglect. 68,326

  6. 280 Each year, Texas children die because of abuse or neglect at the hands of their parents or guardians.

  7. In one year, Children’s Advocacy Centers in Texas 40,000 serve children.

  8. 40,000 of these children are involved in sexual abuse cases. 74%

  9. 40,000 of the children served by children’s advocacy centers know their perpetrator. 98%

  10. 40,000 of these children are not old enough to attend kindergarten. 27%

  11. Sexual abuse is a crime of secrecy.

  12. Child sexual abuse breeds because it’s uncomfortable to talk about.

  13. That’s why open discussion is the most powerful weapon to eradicate it.
