  1. Anglicky v odborných předmětech"Support ofteachingtechnicalsubjects in English“ Tutorial: Engineeringtechnology Topic: Weldingwithwrappedelectrode Prepared by: Ing. Josef Martinák st. Projekt Anglicky v odborných předmětech, CZ.1.07/1.3.09/04.0002 je spolufinancován Evropským sociálním fondem a státním rozpočtem České republiky.

  2. Welding with wrapped electrode

  3. Equipment for arc welding

  4. Wrapped electrode • It consists of electrode core (wire rod) and a cover

  5. Welding methods – used abbreviations

  6. Source of welding current • Welding transformer creates alternative current (AC) and is used for small welding works and house workshops • Welding rectifier creates direct current (DC) and is used for special electrodes • Welding generator creates direct current (DC) and is used mainly on civil works or as propulsion unit of internal combustion engines for power plants • Universal power source creates AC or DC current and are used as universal welding machines

  7. Examples of weld’s usage

  8. Electrode marking

  9. Build Up weld

  10. Rules for welding with wrapped electrode • Using of protective gloves and clothing • Using of protective shield • Work place to be closed • Slag removal after weld is cold

  11. Questions and rehearsal • Describe wrapped electrode • Name welding methods

  12. Used literature • DILLINGER, Josef. A KOL. Moderní strojírenství pro školu i praxi. 1. Praha: Europa-Sobotáles, 2007. ISBN 978-80-86706-19-1.
