  1. Quench Oils Chemical Treatment Christian BADER Mehmet SARAN

  2. Summary • Deterioration of the quench oils • Pollution of the oil baths • Maintenance of the oil baths • Results • Profitability LEFCO Février 2014

  3. Deterioration of thequench oils Oxidation of the oils : • By the solid particles brought by the quenched parts. • By the solid and liquid particles created by the deterioration of the oils due to the thermal shocks. LEFCO Février 2014

  4. Pollution of the baths To treat the pollution, it is necessary to : • Remove the solid particles • Remove the liquids products • Correct the oxidation LEFCO Février 2014

  5. Maintenance ofthe oil baths To eliminate the solid particles : • Traditional filtration. To eliminate the liquid products and correct the oxidation :  Injection of chemical products. LEFCO Février 2014

  6. Maintenance ofthe oil baths The LEFCO solution • Filtration and injection of correction product thanks to a special catridge Filtration & Treatment Cartridge.Type 4416 LEFCO Février 2014

  7. Maintenance ofthe oil baths 4416 Cartridge • Ext. Diam 165mm • Int. Diam 62mm • Height 440mm • Rating 5µ @ 90% • Life (@ 0.5 m3/h flow rate) 3000 m3 (8 months) LEFCO Février 2014

  8. Results • Oil life time more than 8 years,(only additions) – Oil characteristics controlled by infra-red analysis and drasticity diagram. • Suppression of rejects (no more shrinkage and cooling cracks, etc..) LEFCO Février 2014

  9. Profitability Example for an oil bath of 4000 litters : • Price of one complete load around 5600 euro. • Price of one complete filtration system, with pump, around 12000 euro, which is around 2 complete oil load. • Filtration cost for 8 months : 560 euro (8 cartridges), which is a cost of nearly 400 litters of oil. LEFCO Février 2014
