  3. Apply to colleges and track applications. Actively update application activity Request transcripts to be sent to colleges. YOU MUST REQUEST TRANSCRIPTS THROUGH NAVIANCE STUDENT Sign up for college rep. high school visits.   4. TYPES OF COLLEGE APPLICATIONS DEADLINES Main Types of Admissions • Rolling • Open Admissions Early Admission Options- Apply in November, hear by December. • Early Decision - BINDING. Agree to attend if accepted. Must withdraw other apps. Can only apply to 1 school’s Early Decision program. • Early Action- NOT BINDING. Can apply to more than 1 school Early Action • Early Action-Single Choice -NOT BINDING. Can only apply to 1 school Early Action. • Priority - Early deadline for scholarships consideration.

  5. When to Apply? For best treatment and scholarship consideration, applications should be completed by mid-October. Please check college websites to verifydeadlines. Many colleges have Early Action or Notification for admissions and scholarships

  6. 1. Complete college application on college website or through Common Application. 2. Log into Naviance Student. Click on “Colleges”, then click on “Colleges I’m Applying to” and add desired colleges to your list. You can move colleges from your “Colleges I’m Thinking About” and add new ones. If applying to Common Application schools, create an account on Common App website. Complete the FERPA release form in Common App. Return to Naviance Student, enter email used for CA and match. COLLEGE APPLICATION Process

  7. COLLEGE APPLICATION PROCESS • MUST request transcript and recommendation letters online through Naviance Student. Counselor and teacher recommendations may require 5-7 working days to process. Students must complete the Senior Interview Sheet before a letter will be written. *Be sure to ask teacher in person before online request. 4. If SAT/ACT scores need to be sent directly to prospective colleges, go to www.act.orgor www.collegeboard.comto request submission. • Dual Enrollment – Be sure to send transcripts from your college. Request through the dual enrollment college.

  10. GRCC APPLICATIONS Apply online at www.grcc.edu • If you have below a 2.0 and/or you scored below a 25 on SAT subscores in Reading, Math and/or Writing, you must take GRCC placement tests. Visit www.grcc.edu/placement for more info. • Apply for GRCC scholarships via the Grand Rapids CC Scholarships website.

Monthly enrollment. • Most programs run 20 weeks (approx. 34hrs/wk.) • Program examples include: Auto Tech., Computer Support Tech., CNC Tech., Construction, Med. Assist., Welding. ACT Test • ACT *Test Date: Sat., Oct. 26th Registration deadline: Fri., Sep. 20th *Final test date for scholarship consideration at many colleges. *Test Date: Sat., Dec. 14th Registration deadline: Fri., Nov. 8th COST: ACT (No Writing) $52.00 ACT Plus Writing $68.00 *If you receive free or reduced lunch contact your counselor for fee waiver request.

  15. COLLEGE VISITS • On site college representative visits – Sign up through Naviance Student. • Go to the college’s admissions website to set up an appointment for on-campus visit.

  18. GENERAL FINANCIAL AID ANDSCHOLARSHIPS • Financial Aid Meeting: October 9th, 2019/6:30pm • Financial Aid Workshop: Nov. 14th, 2018/7-9pm • FAFSA recommended deadline- Feb. 15, 2020. Actual deadline- March 1, 2020 • Check prospective college websites regarding additional financial aid requirements. (CSS Profile or Institutional ) • Scholarship Information in Naviance Student under the “college” tab (frequent updates). • RaiseMe - Check out your micro-scholarships!

  19. SENIOR INTERVIEW SHEET • Senior Interview Sheet is a new “Task” in your Naviance Student. • Due date is end of September. We MUST have your completed Senior Interview Sheet prior to writing a recommendation letter. • Counselors use as a guide for college AND scholarship recommendation letters. • Be as complete and in depth as possible. The better we know you the better we can sell you!

  20. SPRING • College commitment:May 1st, 2020 *Students must make a final decision on the institution they will be attending • A.P. Testing: May 4th – May 15th, 2019 • CLEP Testing: Prior to fall college semester (Check with selected college if interested) • Senior Exit Survey • Graduation:Wed., May 27th, 2020

  21. NCAA/NAIA • Please see your counselor if you wish to participate in athletics at Division I or Division II NCAA or at a NAIA college must be certified by the NCAA or the NAIA eligibility website. NCAA & NAIA Eligibility Centers are linked in Naviance Student
