  12. Member Statistics • KOCSEA members: 234 (online, registered) • KOCSEA members with KSEA membership: 47 (15 past due, 9 renewed on site) • New KSEA members signed up at this meeting: 6 → total KSEA members 53

President Election (2010) • Sole candidate: Prof. Jungwoo Ryoo (Penn State, Altoona), for 2012 term • Voting results: 30 votes among 213 valid members. • Prof. Ryoo was elected for president with unanimous support. • Election committee: • Yoowhan Kim (University of Nevada, Las Vegas) • Eunjee Song (Baylor University) • Kyung Dong Ryu (IBM) • Plan: hold 2013 president election in summer 2011.

  17. Other Points of Discussion • Increasing student participation and industry participation. • Co-locating with other major conferences (where many KOCSEA members attend). • Obtaining ACM/IEEE endorsement. • Journal of Comp. Sci. and Eng. (Prof. Insup Lee)

Collaboration with ETRI • Specific mechanisms needed. • Organization-level support: long term and steady, but hard to set up. • Collaborative projects: Short-term,transient. • Mechanisms • Co-organize meeting on themes that ETRI is interested in. • Provide ideas to set up a project at ETRI. Grant through outsourcing. • Invited foreign expert seminar series. • Need a solid logic • Potential for recruiting: some issues due to quota on hiring • Leveraging KOCSEA member’s expertise, information, ideas, etc. • Technology trend report could also help (deeper inside knowledge can be valuable to ETRI). • San Jose branch of ETRI – mostly for commercialization. • Conference registration fee one of few methods. • Web-casting. Archival video taping of sessions. • KOTRA: wants a database of experts and expertise for potential consulting needs. • UKC is the only meeting currently supported by ETRI – some issues regarding redundancy of funding KOCSEA. • KOCSEA special issue in ETRI journal? Guest editorship. Paper review.
