  1. LETTER FROM ADMINISTRATION Dear Lawrence Chesty Lion Families, We are excited to see you! As everyone has been preparing for the school year, we are getting more and more excited for a terrific 2019-2020 school year. Not only will you see physical changes in the building, you will also sense the excitement in our staff as they welcome you. We are ready! Lunch will not be provided; busses will run in the morning and at noon. Please use NORTH parking lot for drop off. Note: backpacks and supplies can be left at home. New to LHS sophomores, juniors, and seniors: Orientation on Tuesday, August 20 will be held from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm in the Cafeteria. LINK leaders are ready to meet you! 2

  3. Information for LHS Families and Students Arrival & Dismissal -The Main Entrance of the building (by the Chesty Lion statue) will open at 6:45 am daily. At that time, students can only access the cafeteria. Access through other entrances will be available starting at 7:30 am by badge access only. At the end of the day, students must leave the building within 20 minutes following dismissal bell, unless under the supervision of an adult. Staff is responsible for monitoring students that remain in the building after 3:30pm for the activity they are sponsoring, coaching or leading. First Day – Paper copies of schedules will be distributed by 1st period teachers. Please check the Rotunda for your 1st period teacher so that you can receive a hard copy of your schedule. Schedule changes – Priority will be given to fixing mistakes (incomplete schedules, corrections needed to make graduation requirements, etc.). Schedule change forms are available in Student Services and require a parent signature. Schedule request for specific teachers will not be honored. Lunch – All students will eat lunch in the cafeteria. Food is not allowed out of the cafeteria. Badges – Student badges will be distributed on August 21 during lunch. Student devices – Computers will be distributed on August 21. If you kept your device over the summer, be sure to bring it fully charged to school on the first day. Note: Some teachers will have a “device-free zone” during certain instructional times. Be sure to follow teacher instructions about your computers and cell phones. Room usage – Many teachers are sharing rooms. Thank you in advance for your care of the condition of our school. Be aware of your space; clean up materials and messes. Your patience is appreciated as you learn in temporary spaces, so be considerate of other learners as you share spaces. OPEN HOUSE RESCHEDULED Open House will be on September 16 from 6:30 to 9:00 pm. The evening will begin in the Auditorium with a Welcome from Dr. Johnson, followed by a Construction Update. Families will follow student schedules, with 0 Hour beginning at 6:45 pm and 1st Hour beginning at 7:00 pm. 4

  4. Information for LHS Families and Students Parking – Student parking in the North parking lot is limited, due to construction. Please allow plenty of time to find a space in the North or South parking lots in the stalls marked with white stripes. Parking permits are available in the LHS Finance Office. Lockers – Due to construction, the number of available lockers has decreased and existing lockers have been rekeyed. Lockers this year will be assigned only by request; you will not have the same locker as last year. To check out a locker, please contact Diannia in Student Services. • Construction Safety Reminders: • Never climb or move a construction fence, even if it seems convenient. Stay on marked paths and outside construction fencing. • Be aware at all times of construction equipment. Workers are concentrating on their jobs and may not notice you. • Safety is everyone’s business. • Be aware of ongoing changes throughout the construction process. Routes may change or be blocked. • Be patient. You may not see a reason to be out of an area, but you must follow safety guidelines at all times. 5
