  3. Tutankhamun - Ceremonial chair By virtue of its marvellous inlays, this chair may be counted among the finest examples of furniture and cabinet work. The ornamented inlays of ivory, ebony, semi-precious stones and faience on a base of gold leaf is spellbounding to say the least. The back is composed of horizontal and vertical bands with inlays of inscriptions and royal iconography. The seat is curved downward to hold a cushion. It is made of ebony with inlays of ivory to simulate the skin of a spotted animal while the feet terminate in duck's heads. The rectangular stool in front of it was intended to serve as a footrest. It is ornamented with bound captives, humiliated under the sandals of his majesty.

  4. Tutankhamun - Ceremonial chair There were a number of boxes and chests found in Tutankhamun's tomb. Among them this example really stands out because of it's ornate construction, and also it's 'modern' appearance
