Free Fall. Earth’s gravity is the only force acting on the object. No air resistance All objects falling near the Earth will accelerate at the same rate, regardless of their mass. Reason: F = m x a ( a = F/m, accel depends on F & m). Terminal Velocity.

  1. Free Fall • Earth’s gravity is the only force acting on the object. • No air resistance • All objects falling near the Earth will accelerate at the same rate, regardless of their mass. • Reason: F = m x a ( a = F/m, accel depends on F & m)

  2. Terminal Velocity • Falling object stops accelerating when the force of air resistance becomes equal to the gravitational force (weight of the object) • When air resistance = gravitational force, the object has reached it’s maximum Velocity or Terminal Velocity.
