  3. Planning for Winter 2010/11 • Reviewing Winter 2009/10 to understand pressures • Norovirus – ward closures • Exceptional events :Severe weather conditions • Reviewing all key performance metrics (pan system) • Reviewing National Messages/Examples of Good Practice

Planning for Winter 2010/11 • Capacity Plan • Escalation Policy • Board Resilience and Business Continuity Plans • Communication - • “Know Where to Go to” campaign will be aligned to • GGC Winter Campaign • Winter Booklet • Adverts on Local Radio, Television and • Newspapers • Adverts in Local Authority papers • Updated information on Web Site and Health News • Weekly information reports to all agencies and Scottish Government via Information Services

Planning for Winter 2010/11 • Examples of Winter Initiatives • Daily Bed Meetings • Use of Predictive Information to manage and plan capacity and demand • EDD - proactive discharge planning • Increased consultant/clinical presence in downstream wards to support discharge planning • Retained capacity across all systems over the Festive Holiday period • Additional Bed Capacity • Norovirus – Escalation Plan agreed
