  1. Welcome! • Spanish Club/Honor Society General Meeting • 09/25/13

  2. Spanish Club

  3. Promotes and expands the Spanish culture throughout Pembroke Pines Charter High School by encouraging ALL students to join, creating in-school projects and events, and learning to appreciate the diversity of cultures in our schools. What is Spanish Club?

  4. **Eligibility will directly follow the Constitution of Pembroke Pines Charter High School Interschool Student Council (ISC) • a) Student must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 Eligibility

  5. **Spanish Club will under no circumstances require a student to be of Hispanic background nor have taken any Spanish language courses throughout middle or high school.

  6. To promote and expand the Spanish culture throughout Pembroke Pines Charter High School. • In-school service projects and events • Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month (ends on October 15th) • Multicultural show • Booth at tailgates • Selling food after school • FUN Focus

  7. Spanish Honor Society

  8. Serves the Spanish community, promoting education in PPCHS, expanding Spanish culture to educate society around our community What is Spanish Honor Society?

  9. a) Student must be actively enrolled in a Spanish class. • b) Student must be enrolled in the 3rd semester of Spanish or higher. • c) Transfer students must have spent one full semester in the program before eligibility. • d) Student must have A- average in all Spanish classes. • e) Student must have an overall B- average (3.0 GPA.) • f) Student must never have failed a class due to attendance. • g) Student must have participated in the National Spanish Exam at least one time Eligibility

  10. To be in Spanish Honor Society, you have to apply and be fully eligible to be accepted. Upon receiving your decision, the Induction Ceremony will inaugurate all new and returning members to the Honor Society. Application, Decision, Induction

To recognize high achievement in Spanish students of secondary schools and to promote continuity of interest in Hispanic studies. • Service to Spanish community • PPCHS tutoring • Service projects and events • Individual volunteer work • Induction ceremony, graduation (seniors) • ACADEMIC Focus

  13. Christian Alvarez- President • Nick Azcarate- Vice President • Vanessa Estevez- Secretary of Events • Sarah Duque- Secretary of Members • Esteban Vargas- Treasurer • Amanda Ryan- Historian • Paula Villafañe- Parliamentarian Officers

  14. Gaby Mesquita and Erica Camacho- CC of Public Relations • Sofia Vargas and Melissa Rondon- CC of Fundraising • Sofi Lalinde and Kaitlin Chang- CC of Service Committee Chairs

  15. President and Vice President- Run the meetings, making sure everyone is on tasks. Attending ISC meetings (President.) Board and general meetings. Both in committee as members. Position Duties

  16. Secretary of Events- Looking over committee chairs, in charge of events/ projects. • Secretary of Members- Recording secretary who takes minutes at each meeting, track members hours and attendance Position Duties

  17. Treasurer- In charge of all money purposes: funds, fees, collections, etc. • Historian- Taking pictures of any special events, developing a monthly newsletter where goals and achievements are documented. • Parliamentarian- Making sure meetings run smoothly and everyone is on task. Position Duties

  18. CC of Public Relations- Communication between students, members, and administration (Mrs. Battle sometimes.) In charge of blurbs on the announcements, and communication between Spanish Club and Honor Society if we get it. In charge of decoration committee. • CC of Service- Making sure we have service projects. In charge of service committee. • CC of Fundraising- In charge of fundraising committee, all fundraisers run by chairs. In charge of scholarship. Position Duties

  19. Spanish Club and Spanish Honor Society will be a family. Both will help each other succeed in whatever projects and events they are working on. Both have the capabilities of being well-known clubs in our school.

  20. Fill out application, even if you are only interested in Spanish Honor Society. Everyone put their phone numbers on the bottom. • Put a * next to your name if you are interested in being in the Spanish Honor Society ( Application process will be soon) • Break into committees • Public Relations • Fundraising • Service • BRAINSTORM IDEAS Things to do:
