Division with tenths. I am learning to do simple division by a whole number with tenths in the answer. Questions like 4.2 ÷ 7 = ?. chocolate. chocolate. There are 4.8 chocolate bars which must be shared between 4 people. How much chocolate should each person get?. 4.8 ÷ 4 = ?. chocolate.

How much chocolate should each person get? 4.8 ÷ 4 = ? chocolate Step 1: Imagine the 4.8 chocolate bars. chocolate Person 1 Person 2 Person 3 Person 4 Step 2: Start by sharing the 4 wholes between 4 people. 4 ÷ 4 = 1 Step 3: Share the tenths between the 4 people. You can see each person got 1 whole and 2 tenths. 4.8 ÷ 4 = 1.2

  3. chocolate chocolate There are 3.2 chocolate bars which must be shared between 4 people. How much chocolate should each person get? 3.2 ÷ 4 = ? chocolate Step 1: Imagine the 3.2 chocolate bars. Step 2: There are 3 bars but only 4 people so we can’t give everyone one bar. First we must remove the tenths from their packets. Person 1 Person 2 Person 3 Person 4 Step 3: There are 32 tenths which must be shared between 4 people. How many tenths should each person get? 32 tenths ÷ 4 = 8 tenths 3.2 ÷ 4 = 0.8
