EM ECW programme The results of the selection of candidate proposals will be made official sequentially upon adoption of each financing decision by the European Commission College with regard to the different financing instruments. It is expected that the first announcements are made by the second half of June 2008. Basileus project - International Relations Office

Introduction Basileus project - BASILEUs: Balkan Academic Scheme for the Internationalisation of Learning together with EU Universities • Lot 11: Serbia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia,Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Kosovo (UNSCR 1244), Montenegro • 20 partners (12 + 8) and 3 associate partners • Budget of 5.309.700 € 1. Introduction Basileus project The EC defined 3 Target Groups: Target group 1: individuals registered at a partner university Target group 2: nationals from the Western Balkans registered in another university in the Western Balkans (no partner in the consortium) or having obtained a higher education degree from any university in the Western BalkansTarget group 3: nationals from the Western Balkans who are in a particularly vulnerable situation (refugees, asylum beneficiaries, internally displaced population,...) Introduction Basileus project Bachelor students : 6 or 10 or 34 months Master students : 6 or 10 or 22 months Doctoral students : 6 or 10 or 34 months Post-doctoral students : 10 months Academic staff (teaching, training and research) : 1 month Subsistence fee + travel + insurance + (tuition fee) BA/MA: 1000 €/m, PhD: 1500 €/m, post-doc: 1800 €/m, staff: 2500 €/m Basileus project - International Relations Office

Basileus objectives • Enhance international cooperation capacity in WB: ECTS, mobility management, university-enterprise, doctoral schools • Promote structured longterm cooperation EU – WB • Give students opportunities to develop leadership skills • Improve transparency and recognition of studies/qualifications • Give extra chances to vulnerable groups: 10% of grants • Enhance the skills of staff, who will improve their education system • Capacity-building for administration and public/private sector • Enhance in the medium term the political, cultural, educational and economic links : the future of the countries involved lies in Europe !   9. 4. Basileus outcomes 1. Curricula modularized and measured with ECTS, in line with Bologna 2. 400 mobility flows on 5 levels executed and evaluated 3. Staff exchange => contacts & initiatives, CD, QA, teaching methods, developing technology transfer offices, doctoral schools 4. Mobility TG 2 => improved university –enterprise cooperation 5. Two consortium meetings and website & application tool 6. Site visits by EU academics (quality) 7. Management: roles • Preparation: kick-off meeting, offering information online, forming local management team, dissemination of information, screening of own students.. • Implementation: practical organisation of mobility and reception of students & staff, activities, academic preparation, curriculum development.. • Evaluation: organisation of feedback, reporting (eg. Quality assurance • 1 professor in LMT responsible for QA, 1 for CD • 1 standard evaluation form: information, selection, reception, quality of curricula, accommodation, services, language, integration • each LMT should write a progress report, including some recommendations (every 3 months), based on evaluation forms and interviews • site visits will be a part of academic quality control (curriculum development) Basileus project - International Relations Office
