  2. Advice WHEN CREATING a CHALLENGE DESCRIBE AND SPECIFY YOUR NEED! When creating and describing a challenge it is important that you focus on your need and what criteria's a potential solution should satisfy. Do not get into the solution - that is up to the idea providers to do. INCENTIVES FOR ENGEGEMENT AND IDEA SUBMISSION In order to receive input and ideas to you challenge it will be imperative that you provide the OpenUp users with incentives to participate. User’s will ask themselves ”What’s in it for me?” and you need to make this clear in your challenge. It is important to specify what the idea provider can expect of the outcome of the challenge. CHALLENGE OWNER In order to be successful with a challenge it is important that the right actor/person is behind the challenge. The challenge owner needs to have mandate for change management and be able to realise the best idea(s). OPEN OR PRIVATE CHALLENGE? As challenge owner you can select the visibility of your challenge. The standard setting is that everyone can see and participate in the challenge, as you then can receive valuable input and feedback from the rest of the community, which might improve the end result. But you also have the possibility to run it as a private challenge, which means that the challenge only can be visualised via an encrypted link. Please note that everyone with the link can view the challenge, and that it is up to you to spread the encrypted challenge link to those that you would like to. A private challenge will automatically hide all incoming ideas (see next section). HIDDEN IDEAS You have an option of choosing to hide all incoming ideas to your challenge, so that only you as a challenge owner may see the submitted ideas. Everyone else will only see the number of submitted ideas to your challenge. However please note that this option will hinder other users from leaving valuable comments and input to your challenge and the incoming ideas. Moreover it might inhibit users to submit their ideas to your challenge TERMS AND CONDITIONS As a challenge owner you can set your own terms and conditions that idea providers must agree to, before submitting an idea to the challenge. What rules you specify is up to yourself, but consider that these cannot be changed after the challenge have been published. If you set to strict rules that may affect the incoming ideas. An example of something that should be specified in the terms and conditions is if you offer any prize to the winning idea. DEADLINE It is possible to set a deadline for your challenge before publishing and the deadline date can be changed during the challenge process. Setting a deadline can be a good idea, as idea submitters then know when they can expect the winner to be announced etc. A deadline is also a good incentive for people to finally submit their ideas.

  3. Submit your challenge When submitting your challenge start with selecting challenge title and a suitable challenge image. Then describe your challenge and select the challenge options.
