BEYOND FISHERMEN Praveen Rengaraj has been photographing since the age of seven, ever since his late mother gifted him an Agfa Click III .He seeks to shoot hitherto unseen aspects of nature and subjects that compliment the splendour of nature . His love for nature and people are evident in his work, and he seeks to draw his viewers’ attention to the inherent beauty in something that is common and taken for granted. In this exhibition, BEYOND FISHERMEN ,he seeks to capture fishermen as an extension of nature. Their fishing boats are bright, they come at you faceless, silhouetted against the sun, creating myriad hues with their paddles disrupting the morning calm of the waters, each one a story by itself . He calls for viewers to peel the layers of this story, to immerse in the beauty and simplicity of their lives, and also that of nature. Praveen’s body of work on fishermen is also a tribute to them as unsung heroes of modern day life.
