CARIOCAS project • First step of the project accepted : the network is working : • We can “see” Bruyères le Chatel … • All the machines installed on the Saclay side : • 25 computing nodes with gigabit ethernet • 5 computing nodes with a 10 gigabits (fiber) ethernet card • 1 Lustre MDS server (HP with 4 SAS disks of 146 GB) • 12 Lustre OST servers (HP with 6TB SATA disks each) • 1 Extrem network switch (model 8810)

COAST project • Main goal of the project COAST (COmputational ASTrophysics) : • Development of new algorithms • Use of parallel centralized computers : • CCRT (Centre de Calcul Recherche et Technologies) • TERA 10 • Post-treatment on the DAPNIA HPC cluster • Visualization of the data and development of the software (SDvision)

  5. DAPNIA HPC • New facility for searchers in Cosmology, Astrophysics and Accelerators : • IBM cluster : • 24 computing nodes (bi opteron 2.6 GHz with 2 GB memory) with infinipath cards • 1 server node (IBM) • 1 Voltaire Infiniband switch

GRIF Saclay • Decommissioning of old Dell worker nodes, • Third DPM disk server in production (+6 TB), • Use of the 25 HP nodes of CARIOCAS as Worker Nodes (double the computing resources), • 2nd 3Com 5500 switch in production (to connect the CARIOCAS nodes to the GRIF network • Extrem network switch as future heart of the Saclay GRIF network not yet installed • Next upgrade (beginning of December) 90 terabytes more : • 5 HP DL 385G2 with 2 P800 cards • 10 HP MSA with 12 disks (750 GB) in each cabinet

  7. Windows • Working group on Office : Use of OpenOffice instead of Office 2007 • XP or Vista : The machines are all reinstalled in Windows XP. No Vista deployment foreseen in the near future …
