He founded Lake Houston Family Practice in Crosby, Texas and the Trinity Valley Medical Center in Liberty, Texas. He has also taught medical students for 20 years at the Baylor College of Medicine. During his years as a physician, Dr. McClellan practiced orthopedics, OBGYN, dermatology, pediatrics, and more. A particularly successful breeding tradition arose in Colonial Virginia, specifically Williamsburg.
