  1. How to Use a Carpet Sweeper ✪ Properly?

  2. Carpets are a great way to spruce up the look of any room, whether it be your personal home, a commercial establishment, or perhaps even an educational institution. However, with their ability to make any place look better comes the headache of having to clean it every now and then in order to keep it looking as pristine as possible. After all, who would want to live or work in a place that has a dirty floor, especially considering all of the potential diseases that you, your family, or your colleagues could pick up due to unsanitary conditions?

  3. Carpets Are a Magnet for Disease Carpets Are a Magnet for Disease- - Causing Germs Causing Germs In fact, in some parts of Asia, people have become used to the idea of leaving their shoes at the door and walking barefoot around the rooms. While many continue to do this out of habit, researchers have discovered that there is more to this practice than meets the eye. For one thing, your footwear could also pick up all sorts of grit that could actually cause damage to your carpet, according to Apartment Therapy.

  4. To make matters worse, according to an article by Melissa Breyer on a site called Treehugger, research conducted by the University of Arizona showed that over 400 thousand units of bacteria were found on a typical shoe on any given day. These germs include the likes of meningitis and E. coli, among many other culprits for potentially serious diseases. Sounds like it’s time to get out the vacuum cleaner, but before you do that; you might want to consider another option first.

  5. According to the book The Vacuum Cleaner: A History by Carroll Gantz, the first design for a carpet sweeper was patented by Melville R. Bisesell way back in 1876. If you have never heard of the contraption before, then you may be wondering how exactly you are supposed to use this manual cleaning tool. If you are still scratching your head, read on to get a few simple tips on how to operate it.

  6. How to Properly Handle the Manual Sweeper? These tools are usually made up of a little box that contains brushes and rollers that are attached with the use of either gears or some type of belt. Somewhere inside the box, you will also find a container that is meant to collect all of the dust and dirt that you find.

  7. As for actually using the unit, all you have to do is push it over the dirt that you want to get rid of. This will cause the rollers to start spinning and help the brushes catch and put away the debris into the container inside the box. There is no need to stoop or bend over while you are sweeping, since most of these tools have a long handle that will allow you to reach certain spots without having to strain too hard. Keep pushing and pulling the device until you are finally able to collect all of the dirt, dust, crumbs, and other offending items from the carpet.

  8. Make sure to empty the container each time you use it, because if you do not, you might end up with a box overflowing with unwanted debris, adding more to the things that you need to clean. Also, remove any particularly large items that you feel may get stuck in the rollers, as these may block your box and cause damage to the unit as well. Also check if there are any cables or wires that are in the way so that you can prevent the unit from getting entangled in them.

  9. Manual Sweepers Are Still in Fashion If you just can’t help but keep your shoes on when you go from one point to another, then you will at least have to regularly maintain your carpet so that it is not only free from dirt but also any potential germs that might be hiding in it. You could always use a heavy-duty vacuum cleaner, but there may be times when you need to clean without producing any noise. This might be the case if you were having trouble sleeping and decided to be more productive by doing some sweeping, but have other people in the house who need to get their rest. Try a manual sweeper instead for those times when you need to sweep up quietly or just can’t be bother to haul the whole bulky unit out of your closet. Your carpet and your guests will be thankful that you did.
