Background • Survey Sent to Chairs of all GAP subcommittees in late Fall • Purpose to understand progress within the committees and identify possible areas where additional support would be needed
Participation • Seven of nine committees responded • Five volunteered to identify committee • Six committees identified they have full committee membership • All seven had reviewed the goals provided through GAP • Two committees have altered the goals • One committee expects to meet all goals • Five committees expect to meet some or most goals
Planning and Reporting • Only one committee reported that they create a formal written plan • Five specified they do not write formal plans • Four committees plan to report to GAP this year • Three specified they will provide annual written reports; one specified a biannual report • One specified they do not plan to report • Two committees reported needing some guidance with meeting goals
Future Steps/Brainstorms • Orientation and training for Committee Chairs--Explain purpose and benefits • Process for goal revision • Stated expectation of reports and templates for written reports • At least one representative from each subcommittee on GAP • Optimal timeframe of GAP meeting • Be sure to include committee when we discuss topics related to that committee • New blood/rotating chair expectations • Feedback loop FROM GAP to committees • Committees better understand their connection to GAP • Borrow Academic Senate idea of an Exec Cmt with Chairs of all the subcommittees • Joint planning retreat at start of each year to map out goals together and start of Spring meet up; set up retreat in April 12 for this year • Is there a way to reduce committees? • Recommend biweekly structure for all cmts and reconsider purpose if need to meet is less frequent
