What are Co-Curricular Transcripts • Official certificates issued by a university to document a student’s out-of-class activities and achievements • Benefits: • Students learn by more than attending classes. Their extra-curricular activities develop leadership skills and other marketable qualities. • How can the University help to show these qualities?

  6. Total Student Experience • Student learning goes beyond Academic Programs. • Complemented by involvement in hundreds of student clubs and organizations, programs and activities. • Makes up an important part of the student’s college experience, and his or her qualification for employment.

  7. Why Implement? • Prevent Potential Concerns: • Ad hoc certificates • False information • Non-standardized • Catalog everything outside the classroom • Standardized information

  8. The Process of Implementation • Document current practice at other colleges and universities • Solicit information from potential vendors

  9. The Process of Implementation • Invite comments from interested persons - Purdue administrative staff - Employers - Students - Others

  10. The Process of Implementation • Discuss specific requirements - Activities, awards and achievements to include - IT considerations - Costs - Staffing requirements - Appearance of the CCT document - Promoting interest in CCTs among students

  11. The Process of Implementation • Visit one or more colleges to learn first-hand about their CCT process • Formalize a plan for Purdue • Present the plan to senior administration
