  1. SMART LunchStudents Maximizing Achievement through Resources and Time

  2. What is SMART Lunch? • Corinth Holders High School offers SMART Lunch, an extended single lunch period. Students have the opportunity to have lunch and participate in an array of activities offered during SMART Lunch.

  3. Activity Examples • Activities may include, but are not limited to: • tutorials with teachers during regularly scheduled tutorial times • opportunities to participate in intramural sports in both gymnasiums or lift weights in the weight room. • chance to get ahead on homework in Distance Learning Lab • access to library and computer labs • clubs/organizations offered through CHHS • guest speakers or other presentations offered through Student Services

  4. How will we know the difference between the A and B half of lunch? • There will be a unique bell that sounds at the halfway point of SMART Lunch. The purpose of this bell is to help students know that we have now changed from Tutorial A to Tutorial B. • When this bell sounds, students in the cafeteria should transition to tutorials or other opportunities; students in tutorials should transition to the cafeteria to eat lunch

  5. What are some examples of what a student can do during SMART Lunch? **Obtain assistance with individual assignments and/or work on group projects • Study for a test, complete homework, or make up work • Go to the Library (100) , Distance Learning Lab (50), Computer Lab 201 (32), Computer Lab 203 (32), Auditorium (100), JROTC Room 429 (32) • Attend club meetings (clubs are strongly encouraged to hold meetings during SMART Lunch), workshops, or see a counselor • Eat with friends • Weight Room (35) • Intramurals in Auxiliary Gym (50) • Intramurals in Competition Gym (50) • No spectators, only participators allowed in gym • ( ) Indicates maximum number of students at one time

  7. Where can students not eat? • Hallways • Bathrooms • While walking from one area to another • Library • Distance Learning Lab • Computer Labs • Auditorium • Gyms and Weight Room

  8. ATTENTIONParents and Students • It is understood that students will often have outside appointments (doctor, dentist, etc) during school hours. Due to the importance and benefits of SMART Lunch, we ask that you please schedule these appointments before or after the SMART Lunch periods.

  9. What if you have to leave during SMART Lunch? • We discourage any appointments during SMART Lunch because this is such a vital part of your school day. If you must schedule an appointment during SMART Lunch, it is your responsibility to communicate to your parents where you will be on the day that you are to be picked up. If you do not communicate this with you parents, they may be required to wait until SMART Lunch is over before you are located.

  10. SMART Lunch • SMART Lunch is a PRIVILEGE • Students have the opportunity to make SMART Lunch a vital part of the Corinth Holders High School day, but it will require everyone working together to make it successful.
