  1. Blog4: Datatrans-inc.com EDI, The New Change In The IT World! Wondering what is EDI and how can you benefit from it? Well, below is my short story that will help you explain this. As a marketing professional of a sales company dealing in ERP products, I am personally exposed to a barrage of IT products that are seriously unknown to me. Usually, when people ask me about the acronym, I put on my best poker face while simultaneously Googling the unknown acronym. This is a part of my learning process and I am not ashamed of it. But one day, one random guy asked me “what is EDI” just like I told you before, I possessed my best poker face and started Googling the terminology EDI. And believe me that research literally changed my outlook of conducting business. So, let me share what is EDI and how it helps many business houses. Today, EDI definition can be phrased as the transfer of business data from computer to computer through messages, business partners with least human intervention. Usually, in common business practice paperwork is done manually. This makes the whole process complex and extremely susceptible to errors. But EDI helps in reducing the paperwork thereby making things easy, fast and less prone to errors. EDI has proved to of great help in supply chain management as well. In supply chain management, the trading partners, retailers, and customers need to communicate with each other quite constantly. For instance, when a supplier receives an order from the customer, the supplier replies with confirmation and modification. This is where an EDI comes in the picture! It makes the process easy, smooth and quick.
