  1. Does MOT Check Brakes?

  2. MOT Check Brakes MOT is the short term for “Ministry of Transport”. MOT is responsible to have a check on various aspects of your vehicle that range from the fuel system and brakes to mirror, lights, windscreen wipers, exhaust systems, and seatbelts. When you own a car, along with services the first and foremost thing that is required to be remembered is MOT.

  3. What is an MOT Test? An MOT test is designed as an assessment test that ensures that either your vehicle meets the standards of environmental and road safety. Your vehicle must be in good condition when you assess it under MOT tests. This testing system has a check on the following elements of your vehicle: • Reflectors, lamps, and electrical equipment • Suspension and steering • Brakes • Road wheels and tyres • Seat belts • General items and body structure • Emission, fuel, and exhaust • View of the road by a driver

  4. Working of Brakes Brakes are the most crucial part of your transport that helps you in safe travel everywhere. It should be in perfect working condition while traveling. In case of any problem in a car, one should go for brakes repair first. When you press the brake pedal, your vehicles move that foot force to the brakes via a fluid. The actual force that is required by the vehicle is much more than this force. In order to provide that actual force to your car, this pedal pressing force is multiplied by two ways: • Leverage (Mechanical advantage) • Hydraulic force multiplication

  5. How MOT Check the Efficiency of Brakes? Usually, the balance and efficiency of brakes are assessed on the roller brake coaster. Wherever this instrument cannot be used, the checking of brakes can be done through a decelerometer. Surprisingly the brakes’ examination by MOT is quite complex and extensive. MOT inspects the vehicle's brake by checking the following conditions:

  6. Inside of a Care The warning lamp of the anti-brake system is examined for: Sequence of operations Function Footbrakes A fail is applied in the following conditions: When the reserve travel is not sufficient on the footbrake due to which it touches the ground. When the rubber of the brake pedal is worn extensively. When the servo assistance system has undergone incorrect operations.

  7. Service Brake Pedal In this section if your vehicle lies under the following category this will be considered a defect in it: When there is insufficient reserve travel. If the service brake control is not releasing appropriately and the working of brakes is affected. When the anti-slip provision is missing. Handbrakes According to MOT inspection, the handbrakes are defective in the following cases: When the ratchet is not holding properly. When the ratchet mechanism is worn out to such a large extent that inadvertently causes the release of brakes. When the parking brake control is inoperative or defective. When the parking brake lever undergoes excessive motions that is the indication of the wrong adjustment.
