First Day Logistics for U.S. Government Class with Mrs. Ashford

Welcome to the U.S. Government Spring Semester! On the first day, students will fill out Student Information Cards and have the opportunity to ask Mrs. Ashford any respectful questions. During class, we will discuss the importance of understanding citizenship and society. A video on education will prompt critical thinking about our roles as active citizens. Please review classroom norms to ensure a productive learning environment. Homework will be assigned and due tomorrow. Let's make this semester insightful and engaging!

  5. People in the Streets Video Questions • Why do you think they wanted to show this video to the public? • What are they trying to say about the American people level of education?

  6. Why this class is required and important? • You will soon be active citizens in society • You must understand the laws of society • You must be able to make sound decisions when it comes time to vote • You must know what it means to be a citizen and the role each of you play in society • You must know the world around you outside of your neighborhood and city • You must pass this course to graduate, LOL

  7. Classroom Tour • Student Center-available to you • Rule Wall and Parking Lot • Daily Lesson Title, Objectives, Announcements • Daily Agenda with Homework • All posters on the wall we will cover for the year

Classroom Norms • Please have away all cellphones and electronics can be a huge distraction and policy requirement • Please keep room clean and tidy • Throw away all trash at the end class or raise hand during class • Please sharpen pencil at the beginning of class or raise your hand during class • Please no eating or drinking in class to prevent little friends and policy requirement • Please stay engage in all discussions and respect each others opinion • What is discussed in class remain in class
