Introduction… • Goals of today’s session: • To provide an overview of the Voyager OPAC, including: • “Basic Search” – using “Search by” options -- • Title / Journal / Author / Keyword (2 types) / Subject • Search Limits • Guided Keyword Search • Saving results • Answering any questions you may have about the OPAC

  6. Login – Patron Info… (… from the Test Database) Personal Info, Items on Loan, Info on requests, Loans & Fines

  7. Search Limits “More” Search Limits include: Language, Location, Medium, Item Type, Place of Publication…

  8. Search by: Title Searches for string of words (or individual word) & will truncate last word automatically (e.g. “christmas car”) Always omit initial articles (a, an, the, le, la, l', etc.).

  13. Search by: Journal Title Searches for EXACT title, with automatic truncation of last word. Type the first few words of the title: scientific amer

  16. Search by: Author For individuals, type last name followed by first name (or, even better, last name followed by first initial): einstein a (finds A, Al, Albert, etc.) For organizations or groups, use normal word order: queen's university
