7. Bた+ら • Bた+ら has a couple different meanings • If and when (I) verb • うなぎを食べたら • If I were to eat eel… • When (after) I have verbed • うちにかえったら • When you have gone home • You understand which meaning it takes from context

Bた+ら • There are two clauses to a Bた+ら sentence • _condition_ たら _result_ • わしょくを食べたらどうですか。 • How does Japanese food sound? • 日本に来たらあそびましょう。 • Let’s hang out when you come to Japan. • ドアをあけたらレイ先生がいます。 • When I opened the door Rey sensei was standing there. • 電話したら行くと思う。 • I think he’ll go if we call him.

9. れんしゅう • If you ate playdoh would you get sick? • Would I fail if I slept in class? • I ate ramen when I got home. • If I write a haiku will you laugh?

10. B4ば • Put the verb in B4 and add ば • 食べる • 食べれ • 食べれば • する • すれ • すれば • 会う • 会え • 会えば • はなす • はなせ • はなせば

11. B4ば • B4ば has a solid connotation • If __ happens, then __ happens • If you drink poison you will die • If you roll in the mud, you’ll get dirty

12. B4ば • There are two clauses to a B4ばsentence • _condition_ B4ば_result_ • べんきょうすればよくできます。 • If you study you’ll do well • 学校に行けばつかれます。 • If you go to school you’ll get tired. • でんきをつければお金がかかりますよ。 • If you turn on the electricity it will cost money. • 手で食べればきたなくなります。 • If you eat it with your hands you’ll get diry.

13. れんしゅう • I’ll fall asleep if we watch that movie. • If you exercise you’ll get tired. • You’ll die if you fall off a cliff. • If I talk to her I get nervous.
