Parallel sessions • 4 sessions: • M Airaj, G Manduchi, G Bracco, S Migliori, V Pais, F Iannone, Y Buravand, F Imbeaux + “J Lister, P Strand” • Objectives: • Status of the project => outcome: identify what is missing for the 1st release of the framework • 2008 work plan • Wednesday: • 2:30-4:30: ISIP • 4:30-6:30: ISIP-IMP#1 shared session • Thursday: • 8:30-10:30: ISIP • 10:45-12:00: ISIP 2008 work program • Practical session on Thursday 4:30-6:30 • Network bandwidth restrictions (CEA part?) • Requires a xwindow display => Xming tool OK • Standard Kepler distribution does not have our tools: • Fortran code integration • Web Services GUI • Nice visualization actors • … ITM General Meeting Garching 17-21 September 2007

Missing tools • List: • UAL: • Single CPO argument becomes a CPO array with 1 additional argument (number of time slice) • Define the tests to validate a UAL version (regression tests) • Memory version: needs more thinking • Matlab: beta version released (tests to be done) • Storage: • Performance benchmark to be done: HDF5 vs … • ROOT was foreseen as a data storage tool and accessed through the UAL • Functionalities: missing one • Performance: ~MDS+ • Outcome: ROOT as similar performances to MDS+, but a basic functionnality was missing (delete) • Kepler: • Collector (& writer) actor to get (& put) the data from an external database and used to fill the “memory” data server • Adding CPO and CPO list in the GUI (JNI/WS) tools • Meshing tools: Mefisto vs CAST3M, … requirements • Running step by step for simulation/workflow debugging • Investigate launching LSF jobs • Catalogues: • Requirements: 1st draft (by F.I.), central catalogue on the gateway, used by the UAL • XML description of codes, workflows, code specific parameters, simulations • Storage & access: oracle?   4. Missing tools (2) • Gateway: • Authentication issues: LDAP, check the foreseen system (GridCore) • Job scheduling: • LSF, issues with KEPLER  check with CPES • Multi-machine JVM. Could simplify the scheduling on Kepler • Working group: F.Iannone, A.Maslennikov, G.Bracco, M.Airaj, G.Manducchi, V.Pais, B.Guillerminet • Addressing the access rights for the external users: needs “administrative rights”: defining users, Web Services storage • Kepler must be tried on this cluster • Avoid discrepancies between Portal & Gateway • GRID access & middleware: gateway is a Fusion VO UI, Glite middleware • 1 WN could be attributed to a particular project • Portal: • Investigation of GRIDCore: lack of technical specifications => SSO compatiblity, • Migrating desktop: well supporting Java applications but others: SCILAB (need a Citrix front-end) • Additional tools • Filling the database: tool to be developed • Query tools • Requirements: looking for a simulation, … • UAL, catalogues based solution? • Material database • Atomic, nuclear physics, … => IMP problem. Pais, D. Robson, J. Santos, J. Storrs, G.Bracco • Preferential support from EFDA: 4p @ 50% = 2ppy • Additional „Call for participation“ • Euforia: Post-doc(1)? during 2 years • RFX: Post-doc(2)? • European training: 2 years (shared by 3 labs) • Task agreement: ITM => signed by association => engagement ITM General Meeting Garching 17-21 September 2007

Summary • ISIP: • Almost ready for the 1st release of the ITM framework • Goal: available in February 08 • 2008: year of the ITM • Datastructure complete • Framework & tools • Gateway • => expecting the 1st results • Still work is not over: • GRID, Portal, Database, … • Looking for additional man power: • Euforia, Post-doc, others labs • Great meeting ITM General Meeting Garching 17-21 September 2007
