  1. Ch. 5: 2 – D Measurement Rectangle Square Geometric Formulas Parallelogram Triangle Trapezoid

  2. PERIMETER & AREA of a SQUARE A= s² P= 4s s s Example: Find the Perimeter and the Area of the following Square 3 cm P = 4s A= s² 3 cm P = 4 x 3 cm A= 3 cm x 3 cm A = 9 cm² P = 12 cm

  3. PERIMETER & AREA OF A RECTANGLE P = 2l + 2w OR w P = 2 (l + w) A = l w A = l x w OR l Example: Find the Perimeter and the Area of the following rectangle P=2l+2w P=2(3m) + 2 (2m) P=6 m + 4 m P=10 m A= l x w A=3 m x 2 m A= 6 m² 2 m 3 m

  4. PERIMETER & AREA OF A PARALLELOGRAM P = 2b + 2s s h b A= b h OR A= b x h b is the base, s is the side & h is the height

  5. Perimeter of a Parallelogram P=2b+2s P=2 (12 m) + 2 (9 m) P= 24 m + 18 m P= 42 m 9 m 6 m 12 m Area of a Parallelogram A= b x h A= 12 m x 6 m A= 72 m²

  6. PERIMETER OF A TRIANGLE 1. Equilateral Triangle s P = 3s (s + s + s) 2. Isosceles Triangle c a P= a + b + c b

  7. AREA OF A TRIANGLE A=1 b h 2 h OR b A= b x h 2

  8. Perimeter of a Triangle P = a + b + c P = 8cm +10cm + 6cm P= 24 cm 10cm 8cm Area of a Triangle A= ½ b h A= 6cm x 8cm = 48 cm² 2 2 A= 24 cm² 6cm

  9. PERIMETER & AREA OF A TRAPEZOID b P = a+ b + c + d h A = a + b x h 2 a Example: Find the Perimeter and the Area of the following trapezoid. A = a + b x h 2 = 6 + 3 x 4 2 = 9 x 4 = 36 cm² = 18 cm² 2 2 6 cm P = a+ b + c + d = 6 + 3 + 5 + 5 = 19 cm 4 cm 5 cm 5 cm 3 cm
