  2. What is the role of NHS? NHS England is an independent body, at arm’s length to the government. Main role of NHS is to set priorities and direction to improve health and care outcomes for people in England. NHS Facts and Stats Total health spending in England is approx. £120 billion and is expected to rise by almost £5 billion by 2020, taking inflation into account.

Does barcode on E-Prescription contain any information about the patient? No. The barcode on the prescription represents a unique code that helps pharmacist to identify the prescription in the Electronic Prescription Service. It does not contain any information about the patient whatsoever.
