    9. 9 EITS Office of Small Business Supplier Programs The L-3 EITS Small Business Supplier Program Office (SBSPO) was established to ensure that small business, small disadvantaged, woman-owned, service-disabled veteran-owned, and HUBZone-certified businesses have the maximum practical opportunity to compete for L-3 EITS’s business. The Director acts as the liaison between diverse suppliers and all L-3 EITS business units who have procurement responsibilities, continually reaffirming our commitment to small business participation while developing procurement programs that are beneficial to the firm’s corporate growth strategy.

    10. 10 EITS Small Business Mission Our mission is to enhance the corporate commitment to small business participation in contracting by providing dedicated program support to administer and manage the corporate socioeconomic contracting policies, procedures, through increased awareness to enhance our business development strategies by leveraging the opportunities of increased small business participation throughout the corporation.

    13. 13 Mentor-Protégé Program L-3 participates in the Mentor-Protégé Program because it is a part of the company's business responsibility to assist in the growth of our nation's small businesses. It also provides L-3 with strategic relationships in the small business community, and it allows L-3 to forge stronger relationships with federal customers. Since 1997, L-3 has mentored emerging firms in the information technology industry. L-3 Protégés have received mentoring in a number of areas, including the following: Technology Transfer Customer relationship management ISO 9000, PMI, CMMI, ITIL training and certification Business Development and Marketing campaigns/marketing assistance Financial advice and assistance Executive management education and training

    14. 14 What Are the Benefits Protégés can gain the following benefits: Technical and Management assistance: The mentor’s expertise, resources, and capabilities are made available to the protégé. Prime contracting: Mentors can enter into partnership arrangements with protégés to compete for government contracts.

    15. 15 Protégé Selection Criteria The various Government agencies participating in the mentor-protégé program have different criteria for the selection of protégés, based on size, revenue, years in business, or business case. Generally, L-3 applies the agency-specific criteria and searches for businesses that need assistance in the areas where L-3 is considered an industry leader. We also look for potential protégés who are a "good fit" for L-3 and our customer. The "good fit" justification is critical in determining the return on investment to the customer. There must be an advantage in doing business with the L-3 M-P partner.
