Women Leadership through Internet Radio Brazil • Break isolation of women via new communication technologies • Create a radio web site • Provide hardware and train 10 Women Radio Network stations • Technology Pentium IV-class computer & CD_ROM • OSS Open Office on each computer • Lessons learned • Great deal of cross over with other gender-oriented projects • Short segment more efficient than 60-minute program • Lack of broadband capacity • Issue of sustainability • Connectivity cost are high wwwinfoDev.org

FOOD INDIA • Target group women micro-entrepreneurs • To link women micro-entrepreneurs to exchange goods • & develop markets • Technology 100 mobiles phones, office computers • M&E all along the project • Network members earn 10-15% of total income family • Profit margin increased (commissions to middlemen 18-30%) • 300 groups involved in the network • Lessons learned • - Technology easy to use • - Rise of self confidence (three women won local council elections) • - Poor can use social capital to eliminate need for cash credit wwwinfoDev.org

Tianjin Women’s Business Incubator China • To promote growth & development of women owned businesses • To leverage ICT to enhance impact & effectiveness of both incubator & clients • Created 1000 new jobs Oct. 200- Dec. 2002 • Use computerized accounting systems • E-commerce as a strategy • Means to apply ICT to transforming business processes • Encourage women to develop ICT businesses • Micro credit services • Information on government services, regulations for businesses • Private service providers (accountants, mktg consultants) wwwinfoDev.org
