  1. Glazier’s Gossip April 29, 2011 What Did We Do This Week? Reading– Next week we are reading the realistic fiction story The Printer. This story is about a hearing impaired man who saves many lives by alerting other of a fire in the plant where he works. Through this story we will study predicting, vc/cv spelling words and pronoun-noun agreement in grammar. Math– We are continuing to study fractions, decimals and division with remainders. Science– We will begin studying sound next week. Social Studies– Our class is studying communities through Junior Achievement during the month of May. We are very excited to have Angie McGinnis lead us in our JA lessons. WOW!!! We collected $391.97 in third grade to support the Heifer Foundation. We were able to buy 5 flocks of Chicks – ($100) 5 flocks of Ducks - ($100) 1 Sheep - ($120) 1 Hope Gift Basket - ($50) and possibly some Honeybees - ($30) This donation will help an impoverished family in a third world country improve their life. Way to go 3rd graders!!!!! Heifer International Looking Ahead… May 6 – 2nd and 3rd grade musical Performances at 10:30 and 2:00 Your child is encouraged to wear green!! & NWEA test for Language May 13 - Early Dismissal - Staff Development May 31 - 3rd grade field trip to Mills City Museum June 2 – End of the year Picnic – Tierney Park June 3 – Last Day of School – Early Dismissal Spelling 1. basket 11. follow 2. rabbit 12. problem 3. napkin 13. chicken 4. letter 14. butter 5. invite 15.Sunday 6. bedtime 16. tried 7. mammal 17. studies 8. number 18. drying 9. fellow 19. splendid10. 10. chapter 20. complete Highlights…Great Job on your quick sand experiment Ryan. Izzy is up for next week. Thanks for letting your child dress up today for our royal wedding celebration. They looked amazing!!  Their dance moves were so fun to watch!! They are not afraid to shake it. I love that about them.
