Learning Communities – TRIO Project • Develop two Learning Community projects starting Fall 2005, lasting all year • SOC204/CG112/WR121 • ENG107/CG112/HST110 • Create two cohorts of students each year (approx. 25 students in each cohort) TRIO should stand for Together Reaching Incredible Outcomes ―Mike Evans

Learning Communities – TRIO Project • CG112 Course • Ties together elements of two academic courses • Is “sandwiched” in between two academic courses • Creates bonds between students • Academic courses • Course-content highlights and projects from both courses are linked by faculty • Faculty meet students in pre-fall CG111 course Grace Parson and Jeff McAlpine “link” it all together for TRIO students

Chemeketa Language Learning Center Project • Investigate best practices at Univ. of Victoria • Redesign campus language lab • Upgrade current listening system to a digital computer classroom • Implement a virtual learning lab • Extend beyond the physical space of the language lab • Use web-based technology to expand services Jannie Crossler-Laird and Tim VanSlyke make plans for serious “extended learning”

Tutoring CenterOnline Math Tutoring Project • Tutoring Center project funded under Title III • Offers real-time math tutoring online • Gives students a place to acquire math resources • How-tos for calculator use • Graph paper • Links to various help sites • Provides evening tutoring 2 days/week Garth Fleming ― Expanding math into new horizons
