Why Some PeopleGive Up Matthew 13:18-23
Giving Up Some give up on God before they are converted Some give up on God after they are converted Some give up on their marriage, their family, and other important relationships in life Some give up on their health, their work, etc.
Why Some Give Up They forget how important the cause is (Jn. 12:27) They are not conditioned to face difficult challenges (Ezra 7:10; Dan. 1:8; 1 Cor. 9:25-27; Heb. 12:1-2) They do not put all their might into it (Eccl. 9:10; Col. 3:23) They do not lay aside those things that hinder (Heb. 12:1-2) They focus too much on their past failures (Phil. 3:13-14)
Why Some Give Up They refuse to learn from the mistakes of others (1 Cor. 10:6-11; Heb. 4:1ff; Jude 5) They refuse to be encouraged and built up (1 Thess. 5:11; Heb. 3:25; 10:25) They do not focus on the reward of their efforts (1 Cor. 15:58; Gal. 6:9; Heb. 6:10-12) They do not see that others have succeeded under greater challenges (Heb. 11:32ff; 12:4) They forget they can get help (Heb. 4:16; 1 Pet. 5:7)
Why Some Give Up They spend too much time thinking and not enough time acting (Acts 24:25; 26:28; 2 Cor. 6:2) They forget that it is not their prerogative to give up (Mt. 16:23; Luke 22:42) They give up in the early stages (Lk. 13:6-9) They listen to those who want them to quit (Neh. 4:1-6; 6:1-4; Job 2:9) They walk with theirs eyes on this life instead of on the next (2 Cor. 5:7; Heb. 11:10-16)
We Will Not Give Up! “But we are not of them that shrink back unto perdition; But of them that have faith unto the saving of the soul” Hebrews 10:39
