Characteristic… • To provide services to Web 2.0 users • To give the access to the most current technology to all students, teachers, and parents • Provide 24/7 access to all students, teachers, and parents through online databases, pathfinders, and additional resources. • Synergistic environment • Central location in the school

Why… • Although students are digital natives they still need to be taught how to use the Web 2.0 tools in learning and critical thinking • For students to be successful in the 21st Century they need to learn transferable skills • Therefore…they need to become critical consumers of information, effective problem solvers, capable decision makers and innovative communicators.

  4. Empowering Learners • Everyone is a learner • Learning is personalized, individualized, motivating and enlightening • Multiple learning levels and styles • Flexible spaces seamlessly integrating technology • Empowering students to learn how to learn by watching everyone in the school modeling

Physical and Virtual Space • Create online meeting spaces for learning • Make resources freely available to all • Invest in e-books, databases, video-streaming and other relevant digital resources • Alter your hours of operations • Reduce the amount of furniture clutter and choose furniture that can serve varied purposes and be easily moved • Make use of new technologies in your displays and set-ups

  7. Equitable Access • Differentiate learning • Make purchases to meet the needs of all learners based on gap analysis • Provide assistive technology when needed • Collect and supply tutorials by learners and for learners • Take advantage of student expertise

  8. Learning Partnerships • Work with teachers and students to plan, teach, and assess learning • Explore learning networks to find experts • Rethink who your experts are and where to find them • Recognize yourself as a learner and model your learning experience

Technology in Learning • Consider BYLD’s even cell phones • Use collaborative virtual spaces for class projects • Use book marking web technology e.g. Diigo, Del.iciou.us or Shelfari • Explore Web 2.0 apps • Match Web 2.0 apps with student needs • Use interactive white boards and documents cameras • Explore gaming and coding e.g. Scratch • Share with other professionals through learning communities and personal learning networks
