  1. Successful people My successful person is William Dick (Vet)

  2. William Dick • William Dick was born on the 6th of May 1793. • His parents were Jean and John Dick. • He was trained to be a farrier before he did lectures (someone who puts horse shoes onto horses).

  3. William Dick • William Dick is a successful person as he started out being an ordinary farm boy but then ended up starting his own veterinary university. • William Dick has been resourceful as he went to lectures in 1816 at Dr John Barclay’s extramural school of anatomy. This shows he was resourceful as he used what he had to learn as much as possible.

  4. William Dick • He was quickly recognised as the brightest person in his class and was quickly befriended by Dr Barclay from the lectures. • But in the autumn of 1817 at the age of 24 he travelled to London to attend lectures at the from Professor Edward Coleman from the Veterinary College in Camden. • So he was resourceful as he knew no one else would help him so he made sure he knew as much as he could by going to different peoples lectures. Which shows he was also resourceful.

  5. William Dick • After William studied at the Veterinary College in Camden for three months he signed up for an examination at the college and passed. • He got his diploma on the 27th of January 1818. • This shows that he was successful after he worked hard and used his resourcefulnessand was resilient to get his diploma.

  6. William Dick • When he got back to Edinburgh he set about starting up the animal biology lectures. • His first year of starting the lectures no students came but the next year he had four students and the year after that he had nine students. • This shows that he was resilient as he stuck at it even though it seemed that no one wanted to listen to him and this is another reason why he is successful.

  7. William Dick • By 1844 nearly 800 men had been educated by William Dick • This shows that he was very successful as he went from having no students one year and having educated 800 students in only a few years. • I really admire him as he has obviously been successful in what he set out to do and I think he is a definite example of someone who is successful.

  8. William Dick • I think I have some qualities the same as William Dick as I feel that I am resilient in what I do and do aim high as he did. • I would also say that I am resourceful as I use the resources I can get from my school to help me be successful in what I do.
