Of course keeping the landline as a back-up. • example: •      Phone call received from NOC for a mission to the accepting IC, IC notifies our alerting officer the Alerting officer can either log online or from their smartphone can notify members, grouped into Ground Team, Air Crew, and Pilots etc... •     You can choose and select individuals or groups. They can either return via a phone call, or there are buttons within the program with "able, unable, scene, class...". You can even set to on duty and off duty and specific hours. • This system also has real time CAD integrated into it so if you have a rally point it will map out and even give GPS directions there. It also allows for us to enter basic information and instructions. • -WMIRS 2.0 Has been released: • - Please become familiar and check it out. • -New Fiscal year has begun and training calendar released: • -NYW TRAEX (SAREX) 8-9 November • - Details to be released. • -For each training exercise, the dates will be released ahead of time. • -Each squadron will have to respond with those that WILL be participating. • -If not enough interest to operate safely and successfully out of Akron/DKK, those willing to participate will be utilizing the group van and manning FLG base and operations. • -When not enough people sign up or show up it actually hinder and hurts our own local operations. • -Will be working towards holding either base/staging or at a minimum some operations out of Dunkirk for ease of participation of the southern units. • -WE NEED PARTICIPATION AND DEDICATION BEFORE THIS CAN BE PLANNED! • -For the November TRAEX please notify me by 4 November so planning or mission objectives can be done. • -Working on a “cold Weather” storage device for the Akron Hangar: • (for storage of imaging camera, imaging computer, radios, other temperature sensitive devices.) • -Old Blanket Warmer, or home made device that is safe? • or • -Old fridge that does not work that may be cut into. • -needs to be able to accommodate a “heating element” lamp, on a timer. • -retain heat at a comfortable level to protect equipment • - Able to install a hasp and lock for extra security. • -ANY SUGGESTIONS OR HELP IN CONSTRUCTION? 25. Recruitment and Retention -Need a roster of each individual squadron R&R Officers -Who is interested? -Huge undertaking (One of our weakest points) -Lets make this a top priority -Remember members who are retiring and physically unable to continue. -Tables/Booths -ECC Campus’s -Local schools? -Health fairs/open houses -Area Malls and public areas -Do not mislead public (be honest and not sugar coat information *we do NOT always fly and CAP is more than flying. -Cadet Programs -AE -ES -Literature and Information -We have a HUGE surplus of this available, lets get it out there -Break the saying “Nations Best Kept Secret”!!!

  26. NYWg Priorities? Now, a couple of items from the National Conference and Command Council Meeting recently held in Las Vegas;-On the CAP Website, "Ask the National Commander" is gone.  Questions should be first referred to the local level and then upward through the Chain-of-Command.  Members can also use the CAP national website on-line knowledgebase.-The National Commander is pushing for all CAP units to become involved in Wreaths Across America.  This program is not only a fund raising opportunity for units, but is a wonderful  program to honor those who have served, by placing wreaths at the graves of veterans.  It has been suggested for units to reach out to and partner with veterans organizations such as VFW and American Legion posts.September 30th is the close of the fiscal year and financial reporting needs to be accomplished IAW CAPR 173 series regulations.Effective 1 September, the Wing Communications Section has rolled a new radio Call Sign Plan.  The CAP 2015-16 Strategic Plan has been rolled out and Groups/Units will be receiving information regarding benchmarks and target goals to be attained.During the past couple of weeks, the New York Wing Pilot roster indicated that we have 79 Form 5 current CAP pilots.  About 39 of those were Mission Pilots.  We must strive to train all of our pilots towards becoming mission rated pilots.  We must also make a final push to accomplish Orientation Flights for our cadets. Funded missions for FY14 cease on/about 15 September as the Fiscal Year closes out on the 30th.
