Executive Order – Director of Health to immediately establish programs to stop the Epidemic and reduce Risk Factors of NCD’s • Task Force – Command System • NCD Multi-Disciplinary Committee – Health Services • NCD Plan “ OIC” • Policies/Law: • Tobacco Clean Air Act • 3 Local Municipalities Declared Tobacco Free • Administrative directives for physical activities promotion for all government entities Summary of Response

Healthy Workforce Initiative (3 weeks session) at Wellness Center DownTown • Includes Dietary counseling • Salt reduction, fats, and Healthy eating and cooking • Profiling of enrollees and monitoring of Blood pressure, Blood sugar and weight • Tobacco and Alcohol cessation sessions and referrals • Recommended type of Physical Activity Marine Resources Chuuk Public Utility Co.   7. Children with Healthy Living – Collaborative effort between Cancer and NCD programs. Target 9 schools (2000 children) K5-8 • Quick survey (BMI): 80% were underweight, 15% healthy, 5% overweight and obese • Health promoting schools with sport activities and nutrition, and tobacco stop and don’t start massage. • Adopt a school – provide sport gears and gardening tools for school gardening. **New Partnership (PH and Education) thru UNFPA fund: Target K5-8 Family Health teaching that includes Nutrition,Good hygiene and sexual health. Plan to include for next year school teaching. Summary of Response

  9. COMMON CAUSE OF HOSPITALIZATION AND SURGERY.

  10. Provide best medical care possible for NCD (diabetes) patients the Core Purpose of the NCD Multidisciplinary Committee

  11. Provide evidence based medical care for NCD patients (core mission) Develop an evidence based best care process for diabetes type II (Done!) Support in everyway possible the development of an information system for clinical care and data analysis What are the Functions of the Multidisciplinary Committee

  12. Identify specific goals based on evidence based guidelines that can be monitored by available data. Partner with government and civic groups to work on prevention and screening NCD programs Forum to resolve on-going operational issues between organizations What are the Functions of the Multidisciplinary Committee

  13. Standing members support the core mission of the committee (patient care) and attend each meeting. Ad hoc members support the prevention and screening functions of the committee and meet when the agenda is appropriate Members of the Committee

  14. Are we on the right track? Need PIOHA – To continue support (TA) or more to monitor and evaluate the response efforts ASAP – treat as Emergency. Next Steps
