  1. KRYSTALLOGRAPHIE DAN TYLER SENAIT ARAIA TAMARA VAKILI BECKY WHELCHEL

  2. Project Goal Create a searchable database for Krystallographie entries Provide Links/Addresses to scanned pages posted on the Internet

  3. IUPAC Names • Names found in the text were partially translated into English using German-English Chemical Dictionaries • These names and the molecular formulas were used to search existing sources (Scifinder and Beilstein) for IUPAC names

  4. CAS Numbers • CAS numbers were found in a similar way • This may allow the user to search other sources for more information on the compound

  5. Website • IU Bloomington Students working on this project scanned the pages of the actual book and posted them on the Internet • In the database, the address of the scanned page is provided

  6. SMILES • SMILES codes were found for each molecules using the JME applet provided for the class • Smiles codes allow the user to view the molecule • One may also search the data base by SMILES codes, but either one must use the exact code to search, or search by parts of the code, which may lead to many results

  7. Use of Access • Using a database program such as Microsoft Access, one may take a large list and submit queries • These queries may isolate different parts of the table for easy viewing, or a specific entry based on the specifications of your search
